Meet Maryam!
Welcome! I am Maryam, your guide for today. Health is not just the absence of illness — it is a state of well-being in your body, your mind, and your community. When all three are cared for, you feel your strongest.
💭Before we begin…
Take a moment to think...
What are some basic needs every person should have, no matter where they live?
What rights do you believe all women should have?
What role do you see yourself having in your family or community?
01-Your basic needs
"Just like we need air to breathe and water to survive, we all have basic needs that should be met—whether we live in the U.S., Afghanistan, or elsewhere in the world."
Food & Water
Shelter
Education
Safety
02-Reflecting on your own value
Every person is valuable regardless of their background, gender, or life circumstances.
God has created everyone with inherent worth, and part of this workshop is about understanding and appreciating that value.
“You are valuable simply because you exist, not because of your achievements or circumstances.”
03-Identifying Basic Needs
“Knowing your basic needs is an essential aspect in recognizing your value and worth. Let’s start this lesson off by watching a quick video on Maslow's hierarchy. Psychologist Abraham Maslow proposed that human needs can be understood in different levels.
“Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a theory that explains five levels of human needs that motivate behavior. People generally focus on basic needs first before moving toward higher needs. The main idea is that when basic needs are met, people are better able to focus on relationships, confidence, personal growth, and achieving their goals.”
