A Night in Afghanistan Gala

Prepare for an enchanting night of culture, inspiration, and philanthropy at the “A Night in Afghanistan” Annual Gala, a premier fundraising event dedicated to supporting Sahar Education. The evening festivities will take place on September 25th, 2025, with check-in at 5:30 and programming until 8:00 pm at the Great Hall at Green Lake in Seattle.

This gala will celebrate the strength and resilience of Afghan women through a night of Afghan immersion. Attendees will experience Afghan traditional delicacies and culture, all while directly contributing to the support of girls and women’s education in Afghanistan.

Event Highlights:

  • Live Dance Performance: Celebrate the beautiful art form of dancing with Samia Karimi, an Afghan performer trained in cabaret and tribal belly dance. Samia will perform a collection of traditional dance styles to celebrate Afghan resilience.

  • Keynote Speaker: Metra Mehran, a leading Afghan women’s rights advocate and policy expert, will speak on the continued urgency of supporting Afghan women in this time of crisis.

  • Henna: Explore Afghan culture through the experience of henna – a traditional art form that will enshrine you in Afghan beauty for the night.

  • Live Music: Enjoy an atmosphere of beautiful live Afghan music and ambiance.

  • Afghan Cuisine: Delight in traditional Afghan delicacies graciously prepared by a local caterer.

  • Paid Bar: Indulge in and savor our selection of wine, beer, and cider as you go about your evening activities.

  • Auction: Participate in an exciting auction featuring unique items and experiences donated by our diverse group of generous sponsors.
